Difference between leader and manager

Leader

  - Provide vision and motivates people;

  - Goal-oriented

Manager

  - Make sure things happen through other
    people;

  -Task-oriented

i usually interchange these terms. now i know that leader is goal-oriented while manger is task-oriented.

how about if the managers or leader have no competencies to handle their subordinates or employee
what will happen to the organizations?
